Introduction to Natural Dyes

Participants will learn the basics of natural dyeing, including an introduction to natural fibers, mordants, and plant-based colour. Participants will experiment with a variety of natural dye processes and discover how different materials create unique colours and effects. You will create your own set of cotton dye samples using onion skins, indigo, and iron modifications, while exploring how each process transforms the fabric. Each participant will create and take home their own naturally dyed textile while gaining a deeper understanding of sustainable textile practices.
