Event Date(s):
Wednesday, May 15, 2024

Are you ready for the biggest queer advocacy action in Canada since Marriage Equality?

Fernie Pride is taking part in the National Rainbow Week of Action happening from May 11 to May 17. Join the Fernie Pride for a Community Potluck and Letter Writing Party - bring a dish to share and a beverage and they will supply everything you need for letters for all levels of government.

Unsure what to write? A template will be available for you to use or adapt.

We all deserve the freedom to be ourselves, to be safe in our communities and treated with dignity.

What is National Rainbow Week of Action?

Far-right groups and cynical politicians are scapegoating queer and trans people for political gain. While they are targeting queer and trans people, their agenda is the same it’s always been: to stigmatize diversity, control our bodies, and maintain a system that favours them and their friends.

From May 11th - May 17th, queer advocates and allies across Canada are mobilizing through a National Rainbow Week of Action to urge governments and elected officials at every level to advance rainbow equality and address rising hate.

There are over a dozen rallies taking place in big cities and small towns across Canada, accompanied by community gatherings and letter writing events.

This is our time - to turn the tide amidst rising hate and get back to what matters most: advancing a more free, equal and socially just future. For 2SLGBTQ+ people. For workers. For marginalized communities. For all our families.

Because Canada should be a country where everyone is free and equal. For everyone.
