Cleansing Art Session

Use creation to clear your mind at the Elk Valley Suicide Task Force’s Art Cleansing Sessions. This is not an art class, but an expressive art experience. These sessions focus on building community and connection, rather than skills.
You’re encouraged (but not obligated) to utilize the safe space to talk amongst peers, share experiences, thoughts and feelings, and find community support.
This experience is for you to make marks on a page, and explore what comes up internally. Perhaps you’ll surprise yourself, make yourself laugh, or find a new friend or hobby to support your mental health journey.
June’s word is- PLAY
They’ll begin with a guided meditation to sink into our bodies. In this session they will be using the floor (or wall) as our canvas. With crayons in both hands they’ll use intuitive movement to make large circular marks on the page. This session is about playing and moving our bodies while making marks, then standing back and reflecting on the pattern created. Please wear comfy clothing you can move in and can get dirtied. If you have limited mobility, please message us ahead of time so they can modify this experience for you.
Registration is required as there is limited spots. If you can no longer make it please let them know at least 2 days before.
Please note- This is NOT therapy, they are not trained mental health professionals, but they can supply resources.
