Brianne Chisholm Gallery Show
Kaleidoscope is a series of new works from B. AYNSLEY that explores multiple themes as she collectively pursues interests through ongoing research. These themes currently include marine ecology, vulnerability, and the artist's place in the valley. AYNSLEY seeks to find more depth and connection with each piece by delving into simultaneous subjects, preferring to study each piece, and spending time contemplating the significance of the subject, both personally and externally. Every piece is a reflection of where the artist is at in her life and is a constantly changing sequence of elements that will one day comprise a story.
The body of work will be comprised mainly of paintings and framed drawings with a selection of prints available for sale as well.
Chisholm resides and works in Fernie, but has shown and sold her work throughout British Columbia and Saskatchewan.
Chisholm creates narratives inspired by symbolic synchronicity in dreams and waking life. Her work is notable for exploring themes of death and rebirth but has recently evolved to include both social and ecological influences. In the end, the work is always a reflection of her exploration to affirm who she is, where she has been, and where she may be going. Often times Chisholm researches many of her concepts in detail prior to creating her work. Other times the pieces take on a deeper meaning as she spends hours with the drawing. Working mainly in pointillism, Chisholm can spend up to 200 hours on a single piece.
With a focus on technique and materials, she renders her visual art as a craft with a strong discipline in concentration and meditation. By emphasizing aesthetics, she creates intense personal moments that lure the viewer deeper into the details of the image. Her works are notable for their precision and meticulousness, bearing importance on great craftsmanship.
