Encounters: Jeannie Parker

Encounters is an informal, ongoing series which connects demonstrating local artists, craftsmen, and artisans with museum visitors and the community.
DEMONSTRATING ARTIST | JEANNIE PARKER
Jeanne is a lifelong resident of Fernie. She started painting with watercolour when her daughter overheard her say" I think I would like to take up painting". Her daughter then went and purchased some watercolors for her. She was invited to the Fernie Visual Art Guild to take a small workshop and her life of being part of an art group started. While in an art shop she saw an ad for an Encaustic painting workshop . This is the ancient art of with hot beeswax. Curious she took the workshop fell in love with the medium. She still like to take workshops in other medium as she enjoys the fellowship and encouragement of the other artist. There is always something new to be learned.
OUR POP-UP EXHIBIT SERIES
The Fernie Museum’s pop-up exhibits allow local artists to showcase and sell their work, while providing exhibiting artists an opportunity to demonstrate their practice and engage with visitors, making their accessible to more potential patrons. They are one month in duration and are scheduled for fall and spring annually.
