Fernie Fall Fair Great Zucchini Race

Back for its second year is the #ferniefallfair Great Zucchini Race! This is a fun all-ages event that encourages you to play with your food!
The 2019 Schedule is:
10am-12:30pm / Zucchini Race Registration
10am-12:30pm / Creation Station to build a racer to enter
1pm-2:30pm / Great Zucchini Race Heats and Awards
For complete entry rules and a entry form please visit wildsight.ca/ferniefallfair. But here are a few of the basics:
-There are NO age categories
-There is a $2 entry fee per zucchini racer and only ONE entry per person is allowed.
-Awards will be given for Last Zucchini Standing and Best Dressed. Ribbons will be given for 2nd and 3rd place in both award categories.
- All cars must start by gravity from a stand still at the starting point. No pushing is allowed. To finish, the car whose nose is the first to cross the finish line is the winner. The race official(s) will decide the winner, and if the result is too close to call, a second race will be run. At the judges discretion, if any racer leaves the track the race can be restarted if the judges choose to do so. If the same zucchini leaves again, the car is eliminated.
-The zucchini must be sturdy enough to be able to compete in multiple heats. Repairs to the zucchini between heats is allowed using the original construction materials but no new or additional parts are allowed.
- In each race, the first racer to reach the finish line, as determined by the judges, wins the heat and moves on to the next round. The number of heats will depend on the number of racers registered.
