Chautauqua Chinese Cultural Dinner

5:00pm - 8:30pm

Celebrate the heritage of Fernie's Chinese community in an unforgetable evening of traditional music, food and culture. A pre-dinner outdoor Chinese drumming demonstration by the Vantol Percussion Collective will be followed by live traditional music by the Calgary Chinese Music Development Association and a dinner catered by Arrowana Restaurant. Following dinner, our guest speaker will share the history of the Chinese community in Fernie and British Columbia.

Members of the Calgary Chinese Music Development Association are delighted to join us, with Frank Yuen playing the erhu (a Chinese bowed instrument), Paula Pang playing the guzheng (a Chinese plucked instrument), Janel Kirstein playing the dizi (a Chinese flute), and Kim Woo playing the ruan (a Chinese base plucked instrument).

Members of the Vantol Percussion Collective of Lethbridge will entertain guests from 5:00 to 5:30 pm with a demonstration of traditional Chinese drumming.

Dinner will be catered by Arrowana, and hosted by members of Fernie's Chinese community. Sponsored in part by Rockies Law Corporation.
