Form to Function is a 2 day hands-on workshop facilitated by Toronto area ceramic artist, Heather Dynes Smit. Heather is recognized for her delicately constructed soft-slab, hand-built forms that are both sculptural and functional in design. Heather’s workshop and construction techniques will encourage ceramic artists to explore how sculptural form, function and simplicity can exist in contemporary, everyday utilitarian objects.

This summer, the Southern Rockies' French Association (AFRoS) has rented a lot in the Fernie EcoGarden (an initiative from Wildight Elk Valley). You can get involved by signing up to become a volunteer and help us maintain our garden lot or enjoy our monthly gardening workshops in french! Every third Friday for the months of May-June-July-August

Join the Fernie Arts Station's pottery Technician Caroline in a month long intensive workshop aimed to teach the basics of throwing. This workshop is for those who want to begin their journey in ceramics and will be significantly more technical than other workshops offered. Caroline has numerous years working with clay under her belt and graduated from ceramic arts school.

Have your kids join our instructor Caroline in a fun afterschool clay workshop for kids age 5-7! In the first workshop kids will learn the basics of making pinch pots and handbuilding and then they will get to paint their creations. Their pieces will be fired so that they can be used and taken home.

In this workshop get tip and tricks on how to photograph your artwork so it is gallery ready, for your social media or website from local photographer Matt Kuhn.

This is a two hour session that will give a chance to develop your basic photography, points on lighting and positioning and get questioned answered on capturing your artwork.

Bring with you:

1) The device you use to shoot (phone, camera etc.).

2) A piece of artwork that is typical for you or that you are having challenges photographing.
