Digital amnesia grows daily in our lives. Once upon a time, I could remember every single person’s phone number that I knew. Now I can barely remember my phone number. Once I put a phone number into my phone, I promptly forget it.

This is a minor problem, but it highlights that there are some phone numbers that I do need at my fingertips that I use rarely and so am unlikely to remember. I’m speaking here of things like emergency numbers.

Fernie tech startup Sucre Interactive Technologies Inc. has reached the final round of the New Ventures BC Pitch Competition.

Sucre is the only company outside of the Lower Mainland/ Capital Region to make the Top 15  of this highly competitive startup event.

Sucre develops hyper-realistic immersive (Virtual Reality-based ) training environments. Their solution is deployed in workplaces where “learning by mistake” has catastrophic real-world consequences.

'Tis the season of streaks in Fernie. Over the last few years, it has taken Fernie by storm. The Fernie Streak, which consists of 30 minutes of outdoor activity each day of January, is popular as heck. It is fun and potentially habits forming. And that’s what this column is about, but first a digression.
