Everyone’s favourite weekly bike race series is back for 2023 – The Scott Downhill Race Series presented by Legends Mountain Eatery! Come out each week for a fun, gravity-fed downhill race followed by prizing, results, and a beverage at Legends Mountain Eatery.

The races will run similar to last summer with Kids & Youth (ages 8-17) racing on Wednesday Afternoons at 4:30 pm and Adults & Masters (ages 18+) racing on Thursdays at 6:30 pm.

Adding Value to Your Hike

Gosh, it’s the beginning of July already! It’s been unseasonably warm and dry (especially compared to last year’s cooler-than-usual Spring).

Hopefully you’ve been able to get out on the trail a little, but if not, you’ve left it to a great time. The snow is melting (er ... gone, except maaaybe on shady parts of Heiko’s Trail). Mind you, although it’s a little hot a little early, there’s still water in the creeks for toe-cooling.

More Fun, Less Watering

Summer is here! Patio season; warm, lingering evenings; bike rides on sun-baked trails; cooling dips in the Elk River. There is much to love about these gloriously sunny months.

In the garden, July marks the beginning of serious watering season. With less rain and hotter days, it doesn’t take long before plants begin to look a bit crispy. As climate change inevitably brings hotter average temperatures and less predictable precipitation, it’s worth considering how to make our gardens more drought tolerant.
