Known for its deep powder days and great skiing, there's another fun way to explore the snow and all its winter beauty - with snowshoes! The trees covered in snow, glistening as the sun hits their surface with only the sound of your snowshoes crunching above the snow through the seemingly sleeping life of nature surrounding you. Winter brings a beautiful landscape just waiting to be discovered. Try these three snowshoe adventures for something new.

5th Annual Fernie on Fire Christmas tree Bonfire and fundraiser hosted by Fernie Fire Rescue.

This year they are teaming up with the Fernie Nordic Society to light up the January night sky! Come out for bbq, music, and beer gardens! Awesome raffle prizes to be had.

Whether you’re here for a short or a long time, one thing is for sure - you want to experience the perfect winter’s day. For obvious reasons, there are varying opinions on just what this day would entail… so we got in touch with three avid winter recreationalists, each with their own passion and they gave us a run-down of what this day would look like from their perspective.

Enjoy your holiday season and head out on this family-friendly snowshoe on one of Fernie’s classic trails, or try the Mountain Shadows Loop in Sparwood.

Winter is a trillion snowflakes and whispering trees on the crispest, quietest of nights. It’s steamy coffee against white-walled snowbanks, and January embers glowing against the cast iron of a wood stove in a log cabin deep in the woods.

Opportunities abound in Fernie when it comes to getting out and about with your four-legged friends. While the Nordic Centre and Golf Course are STRICTLY for Nordic Skiing ONLY do not despair.

Skiing at home at Fernie Alpine Resort is Dylan's all-time favorite thing to do. Here's to another season of powder-filled fun times with your friends and family. Thanks to Fernie Alpine Resort for always supporting ideas like this one.

Winter is here! Fernie-ites and visitors alike are eager to get outside and shred. On top of hitting the slopes, did you know that Fernie also has five unique xc skiing areas with over 50 km of trails to explore? It’s a great activity for the whole family especially as it is so accessible for new moms and soon-to-be moms.
