Tonight is the night, folks. Elliott Brood is taking the stage at the Northern in downtown Fernie, BC and excitement is in the air.

Many of us were introduced to Elliott Brood here in Fernie, at the innaugural Wapiti Music Festival in 2011, and the band left all in attendance wanting more. Forunately, they have returned both at Wapiti and at the Northern.

The Steadies take the explosively popular Top 40 sound and mix it with rocksteady and reggae influences, creating what they’ve dubbed, “island rock.” No matter your mood, The Steadies pick you up and carry you to the beach in your mind, the club in your dreams, the place you go to clear your head and dance. It’s a scene where rumbling fault lines rip open the dance floor, and the only thing that keeps you from falling over is the gravitational pull of the steady beat. The Steadies aren’t invited to the party---they are the party.

With perfect timing for the weather to take a turn, Dirty Catfish Brass Band (DCBB) aim to keep their Fernie fans warm when they hit The Northern Bar & Stage on November 30th!

“Everytime we perform outside of our local community of Winnipeg, we are most excited share our music with new fans and catch up with friends & fellow music lovers that we've come across in the past,” bandmember, Kyle Wedlake, says. “We'll also be travelling further west than ever before, and are really looking forward to exploring these areas.”

Broken Brothers (formally Broken Down Suitcase) would like to invite you to join them for a night of traditional and modern roots music. These two multi-instrumentalists combine haunting harmonies with melodies that immerse you in the depths of early 20th century roots music.

There’s a reason, beyond their dazzling musicianship and wildly entertaining live shows, that The East Pointers have connected with audiences right across the globe, making new, original roots music the hippest, most vibrant thing going.

The reason? The East Pointers - fiddler/singer Tim Chaisson, banjoist Koady Chaisson and guitarist Jake Charron – write about real life, sketching out its joys and sorrows in vivid strokes. That palpable authenticity makes their instrumental tunes practically cartwheel and infuses their lyric-driven songs with poignancy.

The Northern is stoked as heck to have Bend Sinister stop in on their The Other Way Tour! Labeled as anything from math to prog to pop but feeling most comfortable in the plain guise of rock, Bend Sinister of Vancouver BC have evolved through numerous styles and absorbed a plethora of influences to become a band so refreshingly original that the struggle to categorize them is a losing battle.
