Mountain Biking

September has always been a favourite month for mountain biking in Fernie. Cooler temperatures, the start of the autumn colours and a few less folks on the trails – just perfect. Long-time staff member Gui shares the excitement about the September Bonus Weekend.

As the summer comes to a close why not try something new to challenge yourself?

In the spring of 2010 a teacher-friend sent me a link to a documentary called Ride the Divide. It was available for viewing on YouTube as part of its release promotion. Out of curiosity, I clicked on the link while enjoying my morning coffee. And found myself in the same position, glued to the computer screen just under an hour and a half later, completely in awe of the people I met throughout.

Destination of the Month - Swine Flu
Distance: Approx. 6km
Time: 1-1.5 hr
Difficulty: Blue

Spring is a great time to get out for a hike or trail run. Please be mindful of potentially wet trails. A classic Fernie trail that tends to dry out early is Swine Flu. Many will be “green” with envy of the views you can take in at the top.

The Fernie Trails Alliance continually works to adapt to the changes that the trail users we represent desire and here are some of the examples, of the changes they have made of late.
