Michael Hepher

The Fernie & District Arts Council are delighted to share with you the selected artist for the Fernie Mural Project; Michael Hepher with his piece, "All Kinds of Beauty".

While some enjoy revisiting old memories for the good feelings they bring, Michael has made a career of setting up residence in the past and making a living there. Clawhammer Press is a business quite literally built on a foundation of nostalgia.

Event Date(s):
Saturday, September 8, 2018
Time:
10:00am - 4:00pm

Join fine artist Michael Hepher for an introduction to the art of plein air painting, the style of painting directly from and in nature.

Michael Hepher is a blacksmith, musician, printmaker, and has recently returned to his previous passion of painting landscapes. His work is reminiscent of the Group of Seven and he often travels with a pochade box to transport his studies, as many of the Group of Seven artists did.

We as humans have an innate desire to surround ourselves with beauty, and whether we do it consciously or not, we each form our own often strong ideas about what we like and what we don’t like when it comes to the kind of beauty we surround ourselves with.

The City of Fernie, along with Artists Michael Hepher and Paul Reimer, will be officially unveiling “A Hardy Town” sculpture on June 1, 2018 at 12:00 PM at the Fernie Arts Station.
