Some of us may be travelling near or far while others are staying put, opening their doors to friends and family. Whatever your plans, as the holidays unfold, everything that goes along with them tends to take precedence over our regular fitness routine.

We have all seen the perfect Christmas in the movies. A flawlessly decorated home sets the scene with a perfectly adorned tree. The expectation of the perfect Christmas can leave us feeling lesser than or not quite enough.

In November, Mr. and Mrs. Claus took the time to meet with me prior to the mad rush of the holiday season. While they admitted they were a wee nervous to leave the elves to their work back at the North Pole, they also confessed their love for our mountain town and were happy for an additional excuse to visit.

Most of us live in Fernie for the access to the great outdoors, yet in the shoulder season, once mountain biking has wrapped up and before skiing starts, many of us hole up inside, waiting for the snow. One of the many blessings of living here is that it could not be easier to get your own tree.

It’s party time. The snow is falling and the people that deliver the mail look like they want to burn Amazon to the ground. We are entering the season of the annual holiday soirée. That’s right. It’s time to cut loose.
