Griz Days

Storytelling is an ancient artform we continue to use today. Everyone has a bit of storytelling in them. The Columbia Basin Alliance for Literacy (CBAL) is running a contest for the 2019 Griz Days. The hope is to draw out the storytelling skills of the children and youth of the Elk Valley as they share their ideas of what the Griz does during the summer.

The Powder King of the Lizard Range is embracing our Canadian fashion tradition of jeans and jean jackets for Griz Days Gone Denim 2019. This year’s winter festival, from March 1-3, will celebrate our casual, rugged style in the same legendary party fashion.

March seems to have appeared out of nowhere. A moment ago it was Christmas and a month that often shows signs of spring seemed an age away. Yet, after the perhaps most memorable winter month of the year in terms of snowfall, March is here. Hallelujah! And hello to longer days, warmer mornings and a much loved event in everyone’s calendar, the 35th Annual Griz Days Festival.

Griz Days are coming up in a week, and Kevin Giffin - Director of the Fernie Ski Patrol, is pretty excited about all that's going on!
