The Griz Days parade has been a popular Fernie tradition and a favourite event during the winter festival. Beginning on 7th street, the parade and its diverse floats and attendees runs along 2nd Ave in the Historic Downtown Fernie until it reaches 4th street. Find a good spot with friends and family, and enjoy the show and excitement!

Griz Days is taking place March 3-5, 2023 and features live music, the Extreme Griz competition, a lumberjack show, bed races and much more!

See how yarn is transformed into cloth by weaving on a loom, including a demonstration of a double-woven corduroy rug. Yarns made from a variety of natural fibres will be on display for examination and comparison. There will be a number of different weaving looms on hand,  i.e. warp-weighted, tapestry, horizontal 4-shaft. The historical significance of each will be discussed and demonstrated how each is used to make cloth.

Kids are invited to try their hand at weaving on a cardboard loom to celebrate Griz Days. All supplies included, drop-in, no charge. This activity will be held on the main floor of the Museum.

Community Volunteer Income Tax Programme

The annual free income tax preparation for limited income ($35k for single, family $45k plus $2500 per child) and simple returns is back this March until the end of April, with the option to drop off or make an appointment.

Drop Off is at the Fernie Heritage Library. Get an envelope from the library, containing a two-sided authorization and client ID form. Fill these out as required and include receipts.You will be contacted for more information or that your return is ready for pickup.

The Griz Parade goes wild with animal print! Come out and watch the displays as they wind through downtown along an extended parade route to support social distancing.

FREE to attend, $20 to register a float or walking group. Light up your float to show off your wild display!

Come and join the Fernie Legion for a Griz themed Meat draw, where you can win prizes while enjoying a delicious drinks!

They encourage people to dress wild, and member drink prices will be available to those that do! They will also be running a special Griz Cocktail for the weekend so come and enjoy Griz Days at The Fernie Legion!
