Martha McCabe is a 2 time Olympic swimmer and has been a mentor and role model for fellow Canadians for over a decade. Martha recovered from the disappointment of falling short of qualifying for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, and came back as a force to be reckoned with in London 2012 and again in Rio 2016 where she was the Canadian Olympic Swim Team Captain. She will be speaking about her life experience as an athlete and how the traits and practice of agility and resilience have impacted her decisions and her life.

Join Smokii Sumac (Ktunaxa) in discussion on what it means to be two-spirit and transgender, including history and conversations of 2SLGBTQ+ inclusion. A poet and PhD Candidate in Indigenous Studies at Trent University, Smokii's work centers on the question: how do we come home? As an Indigenous adoptee, intergenerational residential school survivor, and two-spirit person, Smokii's lived experiences are deeply embedded into his art and research.

Ivan Coyote is a writer and storyteller. Born and raised in Whitehorse, Yukon, they are the author of thirteen books, the creator of four films, six stage shows, and three albums that combine storytelling with music. Coyote’s books have won the ReLit Award, been named a Stonewall Honour Book, been longlisted for Canada Reads, and been shortlisted for the Hilary Weston Prize for non-fiction, and the Governor General's Award for non-fiction twice.

If not, join EKISC, Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK), City of Fernie, Vahana Goats, and Tracy from West Fork Resource Management for a community event to learn and ask questions about what we are doing to manage invasive weeds in the city of Fernie.

Pride Central Saturday!

A day full of free physical activities, presentations, hands-on crafts, ukelele jammin' and more music held a the Fernie Senior Center from 10 am to 4 pm. Come hang out, participate or just chill and enjoy the vibe! Pride Cafe will be open from 10:30am - 2pm, manned by the Fernie Seniors Society.
