4th Annual Fernie Flying Viking Challenge

How about a fun challenge for yourself and your friends? Ski on the 25 km circuit of trails from the warming hut of the Elk Valley Nordic Centre and the trails of the Fernie Alpine Resort. There is a prize for best costume!

You have the option to do either the full 50 km yourself (2 loops to the ski hill trails and back) or you can choose to do a single loop of 25 km. Three age categories to choose from: Adult Open, U17 and L56 (or age 56 and up). You can classic or skate ski as you wish … let’s go for No Rules!

Community Cross Country Ski Day

Join the Fernie Nordic Society, Fernie Trails Alliance and Teck for a day of free, fun activities including cross country ski lessons, a caricature artist, BBQ, s’more station, music, games, special guest speakers and more! PLUS there will be live music from RedGirl.

The event will feature a number of local organizations to celebrate safe and sustainable recreational use of natural areas.

This is FREE event, but registration is required.

2nd Annual Fernie Birkie

Fernie’s second Birkie is an approximately 50 km classic event (not including the chairlift ride!); it's unsupported and happens March 10th.

Bring your registration fee of $20 per person on the morning of the event or pay with credit card or by e-transfer during registration. Bring your classic skis as there is NO skating in this event.

Snow To Ice Challenge Kick Off No Moon Ski And Social & BBQ

Hosted by the Fernie Nordic Society and Save on Foods, this fun event kicks off the Snow to Ice Challenge that runs all Griz Day weekend.

Brought to you by the Fernie Nordic Society and the Fernie Trail Alliance.

Building on the success of 2018, the Fernie Nordic Society is hosting the 'Snow to Ice (cream)' Challenge. Complete four trail challenges within 72 hours to cash in on free Happy Cow ice cream and a glass of the best beer from Fernie Brewing.
