Calling writers, bloggers, songwriters, journalers, editors, poets, playwrights and all creative-writing enthusiasts!

As part of our adult programming, the Fernie Heritage Library is starting a once a month writing group. A monthly theme will given in advance as well as an opportunity to share what you have written. This writers' group is an opportunity to get your creativity flowing, to build your circle of local wordy friends and to enjoy sharing in a community of home-grown talent.

Fernie entered the First World War in 1914 with optimism and a sense of pride - it emerged 5 years later having experienced staggering losses and multiple controversies tearing the community apart, including the internment of enemy aliens in a camp located at Morrissey, BC. In his new book, Fernie At War: 1914 - 1919, author Wayne Norton explores what it meant to live in Fernie during those confusing and divisive years.

Includes lunch (soup, sandwich, tea/coffee, dessert) and author talk. Wayne will also be availabe to sign his book after the talk (books available, $24.95). 

The Fernie Heritage Libary host the annual Ride with Librarians event happening Thursday, May 31st from 4:00-5:30pm.

The ride starts at at the Library garden at 4:00pm. This ride is created to raise awareness of library programming and to bring the Fernie Book Bike back into the community for the Summer months. It is an enthusiastic and leisurely bike parade for ALL AGES and they are hoping for lots of local riders, whistles and waves!
