Many people daydream about the fanciful idea of one day being their own boss and owning their own business. It sounds awesome, right?! Choosing your own work hours, getting to pick who you work with, ideally doing something you love every day, reaping all the profits – who wouldn’t want to do that?

With the BC Restart plan now well underway and more of our local businesses returning to something resembling pre-pandemic operations, the Fernie Chamber’s focus now is on setting the stage for our local economy’s recovery and growth.

The Fernie Chamber of Commerce and the Elk Valley Economic Initiative (EVEI) are excited to announce the hiring of a brand-new position – the Elk Valley Economic Recovery Advisor. After a thorough recruitment process, Taylor Jenkins has been appointed to the new full-time role on a 12-month contract and officially started on Monday 14 June.

Winters in Fernie can be a blast but they can also be busy, long and draining – especially for business managers and owners. And no winter has been longer or seemingly darker than the one we just collectively endured.

Local businesses, organizations and the tourism sector have endured many challenges and hardships during the COVID-19 pandemic.  Starting April 29th until June 20th the LOYAL to LOCAL #FernieStrong initiative aims to further support local by rewarding local spending.
