Join Fernie/Calgary local Kevin Allen in conversation with Angie Abdou about his new book: Our Past Matters Stories of Gay Calgary.

Fernie Fire Rescue, in partnership with Canadian Tire, are pleased to provide Smoke/Carbon Monoxide Detectors for those in need. Fernie Fire Rescue will now have access to the dual detectors to provide to elderly and vulnerable persons who may need assistance with the financial cost of purchasing or installation of the combination detectors.

There are many ways to support a healthy and diverse environment, from restoring habitat to educating schoolchildren about ecosystems. Columbia Basin organizations will be taking on 29 projects like these with support from over $1 million in Environment Grants from Columbia Basin Trust.

This year the Griz is getting his Canadian Tuxedo out to celebrate Fernie’s 42nd annual Griz Days. winter festival!

In Griz Days Gone Denim tradition, the venue will be open for the Pancake breakfast at 8am with the Griz Days Craft Fair starting at 9am. You'll see an incredible mix of hand crafted good-ness to celebrate the Griz and bring on more snow for the season!

Liza Gareau Tosh has been working as an artist for over 25 years. Originally from Saskatchewan, Liza first discovered Fernie in the late 1990s, has lived in Fernie transiently since 2004, and took up permanent residence in 2012. Liza, who dabbles in both studio work and plein air, gravitates to acrylic and watercolour through painting and drawing. Her work is largely representational but never predictable.

For nearly seven years and 92 issues (this marks, officially, number 92) Jesse has pushed herself to hike mountains, climb rocks, and camp solo in the pouring rain.
