This month’s podcasts take a look at our communities, local and global, the people in them, how we can support people in our communities during Covid-19 and how we can improve our community involvement now and in the future.

May Podcasts:

The City of Fernie is pleased to announce that the Sparling East Playground is open!

Mayor Qualizza joined City staff and a representative from BDI Playdesigns Inc. for a COVID-safe ribbon cutting ceremony and dedication on Wednesday.

The overall Fernie community is made up of a patchwork of many smaller and vibrant, well, communities! We have an incredible snowboarding community, for example. An awesome arts community. We also have an ever-growing community of people who work remotely from home.

Right now, there is an integral part of our community that needs our support.

The City of Fernie is building a playground in our neighbourhood. Let me say that again. The City of Fernie is building a playground in our neighbourhood! And we’re stoked!

While Parkland Terrace has been established for nearly 50 years, this is the first playground it has seen and there is a buzz of excitement in the air.

I knew I could draw and paint from an early age. but I didn’t start painting seriously until nearing retirement from my regular job. My wife, Bev, bought me a Robert Bateman book for my birthday and I knew then that painting was something I would like to do. About the wildlife art I looked at, I said, “I can do that!”
