Join Santa down at Montane Barn for pictures with the Minis by Kyle Hamilton ($10 for 5 x 7, $20 for an 8 x 10).

There will be hot cocoa and apple cider, Christmas carolers, fire pits to warm up by and Mike Penny will be wood carving and selling some of his sculptures. They will also be rolling out their Miniature Herd Sponsorship program.

Join the Fernie Heritage Library for cider, stories, treats and activities for all ages. This annual event is a wonderful chance to connect with your neighbours. The afternoon concludes with a rousing community Christmas carol led by local community musicians. All are welcome.

As the holidays approach, our Editor tends to become a sentimental mess. Even more so now that she has children. Decades of memories are layered within her mind, creating a general feeling of longing for this time of year and all that it brings.

Jeri Mitchell and I run a Christmas Cheer Committee with the help of a few Elves here in Fernieto spread kindness and cheer throughout the Christmas Holidays and year round if someone or a family needs help.

It’s a milestone being felt around the Columbia Basin and Boundary regions: after more than three years of hard work, residents in over 12,000 rural households, in more than 62 communities in the region, will have access to new or improved high-speed Internet.

Life with young people is rarely calm. From wake up until bedtime, children of all ages require attention and energy from their grown up caregivers. Although parents of teenagers have a little more freedom, the mental demands remain substantial.

Family fun is coming to Fernie Alpine Resort for our annual Griz Kids Winter Carnival!

The plaza will be abuzz with FREE games and activities for kids 12 and under.

Activities include:

  • Balloon Animals
  • Arts & Crafts
  • Carnival Games

The best part is that all the activities are free of charge.

Park Place Lodge is pleased to announce that they will be hosting a special visit from Old Saint Nick on Sunday, December 2nd from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm in their main Dining Room. This will serve as the 18th year that they have been able to host this wonderful community event.

The Breakfast Buffet will run from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, featuring a variety of delicious items including Pastries, Fresh Fruit, Scrambled Eggs, Hash Browns, Bacon, Sausages, Fruit Juice, Cold Cereals, and a Deluxe Pancake Station with Buttermilk Pancakes. 

Studies on the benefits of equine therapy are so numerous. They are loyal and sensitive and unique. When mistreated they act out. Over time, if they feel lonely and unloved, they become damaged. Just like us.
