This month I was lucky to interview local mama and registered nurse, Leilani Levesque. A woman who I look up to and who always comes to mind when I am striving to find balance as a mama in my own life. I first met Leilani on a home visit when we first had our son.

The very best reason I can think of for investing time, energy, and money into self-care is that adult mindset and behaviour has a huge influence on the young people nearby. It is difficult to take care of ourselves the way we would like to because the demands of the world outside us never stop screaming.

October is here and I’m panicking to make my child a costume. Alright, alright, I mean panicking to find one to buy or bor-row. I often leave tasks like this to the last minute and end up being a witch or ghost, again. I want more for my son. Or do I?

Like a lot of us, fall is a favourite time of year for most dogs. The days are cooler to adventure outdoors and it leaves them feeling like they can go all day. While we all indulge in the season of pumpkin spice and everything nice, why not share some of those yummy goodies with your best pal?

2020 has brought us all a lot of unforeseen surprises, challenges, and difficulties. Yet for new parents Janice Doucette and Joey Kosolofski, their glass has always remained half full. Expecting your first child will do that to you.

A newborn’s sweet presence, perfection, and grace, reminds us all that every little thing is going to be alright. Babies urge us to slow down and enjoy the peace and quiet, together, as a new family. Throw in a pandemic and you have a recipe for extreme serenity, as no one is even allowed to visit! Sadly, Grandmas included.

We are spoiled by so many great places to get on the water, some days it’s hard to choose where to go. If you have a dog who insists on joining every adventure, try stand-up paddle boarding together! It’s easier than it looks and here are some helpful tips.

To me, the idea of a revival or being “revived” translates to bringing yourself back to life. It has been so wonderful seeing this revival happening around us as businesses start to open, people venture out of their homes, and we begin to see and spend time with the people we love.

The last few months have been unprecedented for all of us and while it has been a time of great uncertainty, fear, and for many, loss, it has also presented us all with opportunity. Opportunity to examine our lives and really consider the possibility for change.

Yvonne had the privilege of catching up with local artist and member of Shred Kelly, Sage McBride, to see what she does to maintain a work, life and mamahood balance.

OH Molly! She’s one of those dogs who everyone falls in love with the moment they meet her. She’s a Portugese Water Dog with the kindest eyes and the sweetest soul. She oozes with happiness and love, putting a smile on any stranger’s face.
