The 7th Annual Fernie Chautauqua is a celebration of culture, heritage and community. This year's event is centered around the Fernie Museum's new exhibit, 'Women of Michel,' an art installation by four women who were born in the former nearby Mining community.

Back again in September 2019 is The Fernie Fall Fair! This much loved annual event is the perfect bookend to the Fernie Chautauqua weekend and is hosted by Wildsight Elk Valley in conjunction with the Fernie Museum.

The Fall Fair is a grass roots public event that encourages people to bridge rural and urban living by promoting agriculture, recreation, household arts, and gardening. It is our goal to showcase healthy, farmstead living and promote the importance and achievability of sustainable food production in the Elk Valley.

In celebration of the harvest, the organizing committee for the Chautauqua and Fall Fair invites you to an authentic Ukrainian dinner with all the trimmings to celebrate the bonds of community and to celebrate the contributions of the Ukrainian, Slavic and Polish communities to Fernie. Proceeds from the supper will benefit the Syrian Refugee Committee, continuing Fernie's long tradition of welcoming immigrants from around the world.

For over a century, Fernie has had a significant British community, and formal afternoon tea was a tradition among those who immigrated to Fernie from England, Scotland and Wales. 

Join the Hearts' Content Ensemble as we revive this delightful tradition with the Chautauqua Afternoon Tea. 

Our menu includes our own Fernie Blend tea by Murchies Tea of Victoria; scones with jam, marmalade and Devonshire cream; Coronation chicken, smoked salmon with cream cheese, and cucumber with cress finger sandwiches; and dainties.

Explore Fernie's architectural gems. 9 heritage buildings throughout Fernie’s Heritage District will be open to the public, with volunteers providing short tours of each facility.

Doors Open is an international event that provides free and rare access to architecturally, historically, culturally and socially significant buildings. Fernie Doors Open is hosted by Heritage Fernie.

Craig Moritz is a country boy at heart, a what you see is what you get kind of a guy who happens to write and sing some pretty good country music. He is a native of Medicine Hat Alberta and now hails from the Calgary area.

Free admission. Beer gardens start at 5:30 pm. Hot food available at local food trucks located adjacent to the beer gardens. Performance starts at 7:00 pm.
