A movie double-header! Gross Indecency documents the story of Everett Klippert, the last Canadian to be jailed for homosexuality. Kevin Allen, of the Calgary Gay History Project and Fernie Pride board member, tries to understand Klippert and his place in LGBTQ history. Kevin will be on hand to introduce the film.

The feature film Transformer, follows the story of former US Marine and decorated bodybuilder Janae Marie Kroczaleski who came out as a transgender woman in 2015 and how her public life as Matt “Kroc” Kroczaleski came quickly crashing down around her.

Breathing Lessons author Andy Sinclair will discuss his latest book with Fernie’s own Angie Abdou, in the new Fernie Distillery.

Breathing Lessons is a bold and explicit debut novel by one of the most visceral new voices in gay fiction. Of the book, Angie Abdou says "Readers will recognize themselves in these brave and daring scenes, even when they least want to.

You can make a lantern to use during the Festival of Lights parade and/or help make one for the illuminated Memory Lane installation created by Elk Valley Hospice volunteers, Fernie artists and community participants.  If you bring a picture of a loved one, family member, friend or pet we will print it onto your lantern. Memory Lane will be displayed during the festival of lights on November 10th, showcasing the diversity of the people shaping Fernie’s present and past.

The Fernie Museum is excited to present BENT ON ART, a pop-up exhibition featuring the works of 15 Kootenay queer artists from September 28 to October 14, 2018. The exhibit is being hosted in collaboration with the Fernie Pride Society as part of the Elk Valley Pride Festival.

Fernie BS, Masscult, and The Himalayan Spice Bistro are very eager to bring to you a dazzling spectrum of sight and sound at the old Central Bar, located right next to the Himalayan Spice Bistro on 2nd Ave right here in beautiful Fernie BC! Several local artists and musicians will gather to create kinaesthetic, audio, and visual experience made entirely from their collective imaginations!

They will have art installations, live drawing/painting, music, dancing and affordable beverages! Come dance the night away and take in some of this town's beautiful home-grown artistry!

Hike with Pride starts at 1 pm. Meet at the Park Place Lodge Celebrate the Elk Valley’s stunning scenery as our Pride Hosts guide this afternoon hike to one of our iconic destinations, Fairy Creek Falls. Hiking shoes recommended but good running shoes will suffice.

Join the Elk Valley Pride Festival at the Arts Station, after they raise the Pride Flag at City Hall, in a fun night of creating Pride Lanterns.

This is the first of the Arts Station's community-build nights - where everyone is welcome to flex their creative muscles to build cool lanterns to be part of the Festival of Lights coming in November. Supplies and guidance will be available.

Come down to the Valley Social and bring your LGBTQ music and poetry to share with the room. A little bit shy? Come and cheer our brave performers on! We will have an acoustic guitar on site, but if you have a special instrument please bring it with you.
