Join the Elk River Alliance for this year's 9th annual Elk River Shoreline Cleanup! Volunteers are encouraged to meet in Fernie, Sparwood and Elkford to adopt sites along the river to remove refuse and noxious weeds.

To help out, meet at one of the three following locations on September 29th at 1PM:

Annex Park - Fernie
Leisure Centre - Sparwood
Recreation Centre - Elkford

Join the Elk River Alliance for a hands-on workshop where you will learn how to better manage stormwater on your property, including rainwater harvest, rain garden construction, and so much more!

The workshop will be hosted on September 14th from 9am to 4pm. Register at College of the Rockies - the workshop is being subsidized and now will be FREE for Elk Valley residents!

This event is hosted by the City of Fernie, East Kootenay Invasive Species Council, West Fork Resource Management and the Elk River Alliance.

At the event, you will be hand-pulling invasive plant species and reseeding the banks of the Elk River with native grass. Snacks and refreshments will be provided, as well as volunteer appreciation gifts.

Join the Elk River Alliance for Streamkeepers training on beautiful Boivin Creek in Elkford!

Get your hands wet and feet muddy while learning Streamkeepers water monitoring protocols to assess aquatic health. Become a certified Streamkeeper and collect meaningful water quality data on local streams to contribute to community-based water monitoring efforts.

If you're interested in learning about wetlands and would like to take a FREE course, look no further!

The Elk River Alliance is hosting their Wetlandkeepers Course from October 12 - 14 (Thursday night 7 - 9pm and Friday & Saturday 9am - 4pm) where you can learn all about wetland conservation and gain hands-on skills!

Get involved and show your love for nature and the Elk River. You'll be welcome to participate here in Fernie, and will be meeting at Annex Park at 1pm. 

If you're unable to make it to Fernie, but will still like to get involved, other events are being held Sparwood (meeting at the Leisure Centre at 1pm), and in Elkford (meeting at Fas Gas parking lot at 10am).

Volunteers are asked to meet at the staging areas, adopt a site, clean it up and participate in the volunteer appreciation event.
