drawing

Within my printmaking, I create work that is inspired by travel and special moments close to my heart. As a seller, it makes my heart sing when people find joy from the stories told within my compositions. One of my best sellers - Morag features a kooky highland ‘coo’ offering a mouthful of flowers - I like to create a certain kind of comedy and whimsy that people respond to. Comedy is important, people like to laugh.

Carving it up is the practice of going after what you want with absolute. It can also be the simple task of carving out time for your passion.

Fernie is a diverse little town, unique not only in its surroundings but its people, community and mind-set. We’re here because we want to be here, because the mountains offer us a spark, and to each this spark is distinct. This spark swims in our minds, sizzles in our body and invigorates our soul.

“Michael, put down your pencil and pay attention!” was a phrase commonly directed at me in elementary school. Being an obedient kid I would lay my pencil down and, my mind untethered, would quickly drift off into another realm. Stopping doodling was like letting go of the string of a balloon—the balloon being my ability to focus on the moment.
