We have done our blue budget process so far this year several times with school-age children, and if that is any indication of the future, I can assure you on our horizon is a group of kids that understand sustainable decisions.

First Nations in the Columbia Basin have developed new and improved affordable housing options in their communities with $2.9 million in support from Columbia Basin Trust to develop 43 new affordable housing units and undertake energy retrofits and repairs on 88 existing units.

The Reel Canadian Film Society was founded in 2018 to continue operating the Reel Canadian Film Festival, held annually in Fernie. Everyone is welcome to attend the first AGM. On Tuesday June 4th from 9:00am to 10:30 am The Fernie Chamber of Commerce is hosting a community information session called Staffing for Businesses at the Fernie Curling Club. This free event is designed to help with the staffing issues faced by many of our local businesses and to facilitate open discussions on solving this issue.

Staffing for businesses is a challenge in the Fernie area due to the seasonal nature of the tourism economy, lack of certain skilled workers, and a small labor market with growing demand. All parties interested are welcome to attend.

Enjoy live music (Band Announcement Coming Soon!), silent auction items donated by the generous business community of Fernie, live auctions featuring some of the best adventures found in the Elk Valley, games that will make you giggle and perhaps surprise you by bringing out a little friendly competition, food and drink specials, and so much more.

Tickets will be available at the ScotiaBank in Fernie, who is matching funds for every ticket sold! They will also be available online by June 1.
