Every Thursday from 6-9pm the Fernie Trails Alliance will be out working on the trails!

Always wanted to work on the trails? Then come on out! We provide the gloves and the tools and will teach you how. For your 2 hour effort they will always have yummy cookies and drinks!

Each week will be a different location but they will always meet at the Aquatic Centre to fill out a waiver and head to the trail head either by car or by bike.

Teck and STARS Celebrate 30 Years of a Life-Saving Partnership

Teck Resources Limited (TSX: TECK.A and TECK.B, NYSE: TECK) (“Teck”) and STARS announced today that Teck is making a $300,000 donation over three years to STARS in celebration of their 30-year partnership. This contribution will support STARS in providing care and transport to patients who need critical care in the Elk Valley and surrounding communities in southeastern British Columbia.

Wildfire Risk Prompts Community Action

From buying portable water tanks and equipment trailers, to providing specialized training and gear to their wildfire-fighting crews, 12 small communities and First Nations are taking action to reduce the threat of wildfires. These projects are being done with support from Columbia Basin Trust.

This three part, three evening workshop will be a casual introduction to the design process from brainstorming, sketches, refining your ideas then producing artwork on an IPad in a scaleable vector format.

Opening May 10th, The Arts Station will be hosting a group exhibit “FIGURATIVE” until May 24th. This informal pop-up exhibit will showcase figurative art of any kind. They are looking for sketches from their Life Drawing workshops, paintings, sculpture or any other medium. They welcome artwork at any stage from loose studies and sketches to completed pieces for this casual pop up show!

The Greater Good

I am very grateful for the good people in this community. One of those people, a kind soul, great new mom, and talented potter, gifted me a handmade coffee mug immediately post-election. The mug is embossed with trees and an image of the Lorax, the creation of Dr. Suess. You may see me using it at Council meetings.
