The popular Fernie on Fire event, Fernie’s biggest bonfire of the year, is once again taking place this January 7, 2023.

Fernie on Fire originated in 2016, when former City Counsellor Dennis Schafer approached the fire department with the idea. He had seen a similar event out east and thought it would be a good fit for Fernie.

Come and pick up a FREE take-home holiday craft to keep the spirit up during your break. Quantities will be limited and will be given on a first come first serve basis. Come meet one of the Fernie Alpine Resort volunteers at the Plaza Gazebo on December 29th, anytime between 12pm-2pm to grab a craft to take home and make.

Come and put your brain to work during this holiday season with a fun scavenger hunt across the mountain! Different clues will be posted every morning on the Fernie Alpine Resort website for you to explore the upper and lower base of the resort. Find as many of the locations as you can and submit a snap of you on our online form for a chance to win some awesome prizes! Clues and online submission form will be posted each morning.

Have you been waiting to show off your ugly Christmas sweater all holiday season? Put them on and show off your festive style on the mountain December 27th to December 29th for a chance to win a prize!

How it works: Wear your ugly Christmas sweater and snap a shot of yourself on the mountain, at the base or even indoors in one of our restaurants. Enter your contact information and picture to the link provided to be entered for draw prizes. Link will be uploaded on December 27th.

December and January are festive times to celebrate our commitment to the ones we love. When we join as a community to share our time and resources, we can make the holidays wonderful for everyone. 

During the holiday season, family and friends come together to share love and good cheer. For many that means distant travel. There are a lot of things that you can do to make travel easier on yourself.

I think we can all agree that there are some hard economic times ahead and being that most of us creatives choose lifestyle over stability, I suspect those struggles will affect artists disproportionately. It may be a hard winter for some of us, so it’s a good thing we are out of the box thinkers.  

Christmas time was a special time for my brother and I. Jake was younger, endlessly curious, and always ready for action. He hung on every word I spoke and loved everything I loved for a time.
