Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the ban on events of more than 50 people, the Fernie Chamber of Commerce board of directors voted by resolution at the April 9, 2020 regular board meeting to conduct our AGM on Thursday 21 May at 9:00am virtually using the video conferencing software Zoom.

At the Regular Meeting of Council held on May 11, 2020, City of Fernie Council approved the 2020 budget, 2020 tax rates, and Five-Year Financial Plan.

The 2020 budget is built around a zero-percent tax increase in recognition of the significant challenges our residents and businesses are facing this year.

There's no way to sugarcoat it: If you're an investor, you haven't liked what you've seen in the financial markets recently. The effects of the coronavirus triggered a "bear" market– a decline of 20 percent or more – and more volatility is almost certainly on the way. But instead of fretting over your investment statements, you could consider some more positive approaches to this situation.

In Fernie, there is no lack of inspiring, bold women. As business owners. As community advocates. As volunteers and pioneers. It is truly a privilege to work, recreate, create, parent, and live among them.

Many people across Canada are celebrating Family Day this month – a chance to spend precious time with your loved ones and to reflect on how much they mean to you.

The Elk Valley Suicide Task Force hosts an informational evening and Funky Goat Pizza is the new kid in town.

Kelty Pelechytik Fine Jewellery and LW Fitness are just two of Fernie's newest businesses. Check them out!
