The Fernie and District Arts Council is looking for artists to participate in a temporary public arts festival called Moose on the Loose. The Moose on the Loose Festival will be the presentation of basin artists’ work to the Fernie community through multiple events starting February 2021 until June 2021. FDAC is looking for artists to create a piece of temporary public art based on the “Moose on the Loose” theme. These pieces will be presented around the community both inside and outside.

Every Thursday, our Program Officer Jackie will be releasing a short Art History Lesson on The Arts Station Youtube Channel.

These videos are a short introduction to prolific artists, featuring someone new every week.

You will cover their biography, their artistic style, look at some of their works and then leave you with a challenge to get creative at the end of every video! Videos launch every Thursday Youtube link here.

“What is a poet? An unhappy man who hides deep anguish in his heart, but whose lips are so formed that when the sigh and cry pass through them, it sounds like lovely music...And people flock around the poet and say: “Sing again soon” that is, “May new sufferings torment your soul but your lips be fashioned as before, for the cry would only frighten us, but the music, that is blissful.”

Looking at art online has been an immense inspiration for me and when travelling abroad, David and I are drawn to modern art galleries. I am inspired by cleaner, more simple images set in modern frames, and this is reflected in my work. I am constantly surprised that my creations which begin with an idea from a previous image end up as an entirely different work of art.

This exhibit will showcase a selection of artists of varying experience levels. The pieces will be executed in a range of mediums and styles, but will all be based on the theme "round". Check out the innovative ways artists have interpreted this theme for an original piece all available to purchase. 

This will be an excellent opportunity for art lovers to add to, or even start, their collection of original artwork.

Alongside this exhibit with also be a small selection of Artisanal Goods from local makers.
