An expressionistic collection of strong marks & vibrant color. 

The abstract art pieces in this collection are meant to evoke emotion and it is the job of the viewer to interpret the feelings for themselves. The artist feels bliss while painting- how does that translate to the viewer?

Enjoy the large scale pieces and revel in the lush colors inspired by gorgeous natural hues and organic lines and shapes.

Form to Function is a 2 day hands-on workshop facilitated by Toronto area ceramic artist, Heather Dynes Smit. Heather is recognized for her delicately constructed soft-slab, hand-built forms that are both sculptural and functional in design. Heather’s workshop and construction techniques will encourage ceramic artists to explore how sculptural form, function and simplicity can exist in contemporary, everyday utilitarian objects.

Wine and wheel is a casual event taking place on Thursday evenings from 7-9pm. It is an introduction to throwing on the wheel along with some hand building techniques. Price includes clay and a glass of wine. This event is perfect for anyone wanting an introduction into clay or just a casual evening out with a creative twist!

This week the Plein Air Pod will meet at Maiden Lake.

Explore Plein Air Painting with other artists in a new location each week. This experience is designed to get you outside and paint with a pod that has the same love for art.

Artist supporting other artists! This Plein Air Pod is not led by a teacher, encouraging you to collaborate with the other artists and learn new things from each other.

Every Tuesday you will meet at a new location. You will paint and create from 4-6 pm! You are more than welcome to stay longer and continue your work.

Ceramic Planters with Caroline

Art on the Deck is back and better than ever. Each week will be focusing on a different medium, with demos and facilitation led by experts in each respective medium! This is the perfect chance to learn something new or develop your skills with other like minded people. Art on the Deck takes place on the deck of The Arts Station.

Cost is $20 and includes basic materials. Additional materials/tools are encouraged to bring if you have them.

Come join Jolene Miner for an introductory paper art workshop! In this workshop, Jolene will teach you about different kinds of papers and show you how to layer colors and textures to create your very own original paper collage. She’ll demonstrate the way she likes to create shapes freehand and her method for carefully affixing each layer. Finally, she will show you how to mount your collage to a card for easy display.

Each participant will receive a package of mixed handmade papers curated by Jolene and a card with envelope.

The above-ground realm of women and girls in the coal mining town of Michel was one of colour, caretaking and pride. After its relocation to Sparwood in the mid 1960s, Michel ceased to exist on the map. For those who lived there, Michel still exists in their hearts and the things they create.
