Fernie Alpine Resort consists of five bowls in the Lizard Range. As winter progresses, Patrol see’s guests venturing into terrain beyond the FAR Ski Area Boundary. At FAR we permit guests to freely access backcountry terrain such as Fish Bowl, Polaris Bowl, Mongolia and Lost Boys, at their own discretion, by using the resort and chairlifts as a starting point. In the ski industry this is referred to as an Open Boundary Policy. Excluded from this policy at FAR are the bowl headwalls (e.g.

Now we're happy to announce the newest development, the CAC Mobile Observer Network. Say you're out for a day of skiing or sledding and spot a recent avalanche like in this photo from Tunnel Creek. Starting soon, you'll be able to share observations right from your smartphone with our public avalanche forecasters and other backcountry users.

If Barry Ashworth were the coin in a toss, you’d be hard-pressed to pick which side you wanted to land face up more. On the one side, his storied career reveals a fun animal extraordinaire, partying like it’s 1999 for a couple of decades. On the other side, he is the model of perseverance, of taking no prisoners, of making a life of what he loves.

I am not an exciting person. I don’t mean to call myself boring… okay, yes I do. I am introverted; I am content to spend quiet evenings at home with a good book. Anyone reading this article who knows my wife, knows Annie and I are opposites in several ways. Annie is way more fun. She gets her energy from other people; she loves big crowds of fun people.

A contract is a legally binding agreement and can exist whether or not it is in writing. For example, every time you buy a coffee, you have entered into a contract, the terms of which are that the vendor will give you the coffee of your choice and you will pay for the coffee.
