The Cabin Coffee Truck
Madison Brauer and Taylor Dawson are the proud owners and creators of the new nomadic coffee truck business named The Cabin Coffee.

After working in cafes for nearly a decade and roasting coffee for the last few years, Madi’s passion for coffee and her love for the outdoors sparked the urge to create a career which allowed both to exist. They are focused on serving delicious, high-quality coffee and other hand-crafted beverages to the community of Fernie and surrounding areas. In their first official season they will be attending the Jaffray-Baynes Farmers' Market on Saturdays, and the Fernie Mountain Market on Sundays, as well as other community events. Their hope for The Cabin Coffee is to bring people together, in the outdoors. To be a cabin in the woods for everyone who is needing a refuel or refreshment and sending people back out into nature on their adventures.

Fernie Tears and Gears Mountain Duathlon
raceroster.com

Fernie Tears and Gears is a mountain duathlon that includes trail running and mountain biking, solo or on a team. Created by two friends - Abi an avid runner, and Krista a biker who could not find an event to participate in together. They ran Tears & Gears from 2010 to 2019 bringing people together on the trails.

The event returned in 2025 to raise funds for the Abi Moore Scholarship Fund. Thanks to generous sponsors, donors, volunteers and racers, the organization awarded two scholarships this June to Avery Sikkes and Ashley Tanaka – two young women who exemplify Abi’s tenacious spirit.

Fernie Tears & Gears takes place at the Elk Valley Nordic Centre August 29, focused on fun and community with highlights such as the Cabin Coffee Truck, beer garden hosted by the Fernie Trails Alliance, and more to make the day memorable!
