As I write this month’s column, I am in Richmond for the 2022 BC Tourism and Hospitality Conference. It has been amazing to be back in-person with colleagues from the Kootenays and across the province. The theme of the conference was ‘Kickstarting the Comeback,’ and there was a lot of thoughtfulness and optimism as the BC visitor economy looks to the future beyond recovery from the pandemic.

Keeping up with February’s momentum, FBC is releasing four more brews this month – two new releases, along with two returning favourites, making for a March full of delicious craft beer.
Teck’s Third Elk Valley Water Treatment Facility Now Complete and Improving Water Quality
Teck Resources Limited (“Teck”) announced today that its third water treatment facility, the Fording River South Active Water Treatment Facility (FRO-S AWTF), which has capacity to treat up to 20 million litres of water per day, is now operating and successfully removing selenium and nitrate from water at Teck’s operations in the upper Fording River. Commissioning of the facility was completed in December 2021 and it is now ramping up to achieve 100% of design capacity.

We’re all pretty done with this pandemic, huh? Indubitably. It’s been a lot and has dragged on for way too long. One of the many things that have had to take a back seat in the interest of public safety these past two years is the traditional idea of networking and connection.
Fernie Brewing Company Drops Four New Beers This February
In true Fernie-factor style, FBC is dropping not one, but four new brews throughout the month of February. Each beer is part of a different series and boasts a range of unique flavours, ingredients, and stories, to cater to a variety of different tastes.
