Tribe Inspirers

A new year and a new opportunity to take part in the #FernieStreak are upon us. Mamas, Papas, babes and everyone in between are encouraged to get active, to connect and to smash new goals. Whatever those goals may be, it does not matter, as long as they are important to you.

The #FernieStreak is a daily commitment to yourself to bring your intentions into the light. The best thing about the #FernieStreak is that you are not alone, your community is right there with you, also striving to begin the year on a determined and rejuvenated foot.

This year I’d love to introduce my son to winter sports such as skiing, tobogganing and snowshoeing. Last year, he was born during a snowstorm, and I’ve always hoped that my little Griz would also have a passion for all things snow.

When looking for motivation, I always turn to others. Other Fernie Mountain Mamas who inspire me. Mamas who make it look so easy! I asked several Mamas to share their goals for this new year and I’d like to share their ideas with you. May their dreams ignite your own!

“I’ve fallen in love with snowboarding all over again now that my little man is stoked. Seeing activities through his eyes has gotten me out even more. Stoke factor: HIGH.” - Chantel Vincent

“Usually, I don’t let the snow or cold stop me from getting out with my active toddler! We love to take our dog for a walk, go xc-skiing and this year, we are hoping she will discover a love of skiing just like her mom and dad. However, I’m expecting baby number two in February, so this winter, my goal is simply to try and figure out how to get two kids bundled up and out the door for some fresh air!” - Stephanie Nault

“My goal this year is to not use hot chocolate as a motivator to get my three-year-old to do one more lap on the Magic Carpet. LOL. I have to let her have fun and tap into her own love of the snow.” - Rebecca Vaughan

“Listen more. My intention for 2020 is to make a habit of listening to my children (others) before I offer my personal opinion or thoughts. As I develop my own attentive listening, I feel strongly that it will encourage my children to listen to their own inner voice and intuition as well. And what a better place to start than by immersing ourselves in the beautiful silence of Mother Nature itself. Daily walks and practice are essential.” - Sanne de Groot

“My resolution is to create more crafts with my daughter. Be present and join in the things that bring her joy rather than watching from the sideline.” – L’wren Farkas

“This winter I’d love to get out and share the experience of xc-skiing more often with my daughter. Instilling the importance of ‘taking a breath’ from our busy days is something that’s valuable to me.” - Adina Koran

“Here is my bucket list: Walk to school more often, build a snow fort, have a bonfire, make snow angels and build a snowman, go sledding, go snowboarding on Community Day!” - Tanya Malcolm

Thank you all for the inspiration. Happy #FernieStreak!
