Cooking with Corbs - Hot Cross Buns

The wonderful cooking duo, Becky and Corbs are at it again. This time with a special Easter edition. Have you ever made Hot Cross Buns? We have never even tried them! Tips for this Week's Recipe!
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees

Hot Cross Buns Ingredienets

3/4 cup whole milk, warmed to about 110 F (30-45 seconds in the microwave)
2&1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast or instant yeast
1 teaspoon granulated sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
5 Tablespoons unsalted butter, softened to room temperature and cut into 5 pieces
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 large eggs, at room temperature
1 teaspoon salt
1&1/4 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
3&1/2 cups all purpose flour (we ended up adding an 6 Tablespoons)
1 cup raisins or currants or dried fruit mix
 
Flour Cross
1/2 cup all purpose flour
6-8 Tablespoons water
 
Orange Icing
1 cup icing sugar
3 Tablespoons fresh or bottled orange juice (or use a milk and a splash of vanilla extract for plain icing)

Back for 20-25 minutes. Rotate mid-bake. Enjoy!
