100% this is my favorite time of the year for fashion. Over the next couple of months you can expect all the coziest and softest sweaters to keep you warm while making you feel sexy and stylish - even if you are just out to grab a loaf of bread. Look for chunky knits, sweater dresses and cardigans. Wear your knits with a tall pair of riding boots and some wooden or vintage jewelry.
In Need Of Wine!
September is when I start feeling ready to sink into some deep cab savs, the dog days of summer and sav blancs are behind me and my palette is ready for something meatier. Recently I had an invitation to taste some wine from a local wine rep. Robertson Wine Agency represents 23 small wineries from the Okanagan with over 120 wines from 27 varietals. From this tasting, these three wines stood out as definite musts!
House of Rose, Kelowna - The Hot Flash
The winemaker’s husband delicately explained the inspiration behind the concept of the Hot Flash wine to me, a wonderful blend of shiraz and foch, I was thrilled with this wine. Smooth and juicy with a spicy flash on the finish - my personal fav.
House of Rose, Kelowna- Port
Made the traditional way – aged slowly in the sun for two full summers, providing a smooth, slow finish to every sip. With the scent of black currant and flavours of plum, raspberry, black currant and anise, this port is excellent for sipping or drizzle over vanilla ice cream and add shaved chocolate.
Thornhaven - Merlot
Merlot is more versatile and less tannic than cab savs. Delicious red fruits balanced by just the right touch of oak for sipping.
