Fourth Annual Summer Solstice Ride
The Elk Valley Suicide Task Force (EVSTF) and the Fernie Trail Alliance are proud to host the fourth annual Summer Solstice Ride in Fernie! Ride from dawn to dusk in the name of mental health and suicide awareness in the Elk Valley. This year, the focus on community, connection and inclusivity continues and collaborations with community partners include Fernie Gravel Grind, Cycling Without Age, Stag Leap and Fernie Leisure Athletes.
The EVSTF will have a Mental Health Hub set up at Station Square for the day with all riding stages starting from there as well as offering activities hosted throughout the day. With five possible riding stages, choose to ride them all or select what sounds best for you—the goal is to offer an event where all individuals can participate and support the cause. The first stage, “The Sunrise,” begins at 5:15am and the final stage, “The Sunset” begins at 7:30pm. And if hitting the trails doesn’t appeal to you, they invite you to join them for live music by Loophole and the Twisted Tree starting at 5pm!
To participate in the ride, registration is by donation and open to all. Although not required, registration is encouraged so EVSTF can plan for the number of participants accordingly.
We can’t wait to see all the riders out on June 17 supporting mental health, community, and connection in our beautiful home.
STAGES:
5:15am Stage 1: The Sunrise
Swine Flu for Sunrise!
9:30am Stage 2: Cross Country Connection
Cruise the Ridgemont trails.
2pm Stage 3: Choose Your Own Adventure
Join on a guided gravel ride with Fernie Gravel Grind, opt for a town loop on the dyke trail with Cycling Without Age or simply pick your favourite trail in the Provincial Park.
5pm Stage 4: Let’s Get Social
For those who prefer to socialize rather than exercise! Gather for live music by Loophole and the Twisted Tree.
7:30pm Stage 5: The Sunset
In collaboration with Stagleap and Fernie Leisure Athletes, join for the final group ride/hike/walk up to Montane Hut for sunset.
