Fernie Pride Society Looks Ahead
Established in 2016, the Fernie Pride Society supports and connects the LGBTQ2+ community in the Elk Valley and seeks to ensure a safe and inclusive region that celebrates the uniqueness and diversity of its residents and visitors. This volunteer-based organization works hard to provide social events, workshops, outreach, community engagement, advocacy, resources and referrals for LGBTQ2+ people of all ages and allies.
To kick off a new year of pride in the Elk Valley, they're hosting an AGM on Monday, March 9 at 6:30pm at the Park Place Lodge. Fernie Pride Society memberships will also be available for purchase at a cost of $10/year or $20/3-year. They invite everyone to attend and celebrate our successes and help them plan for the future of Fernie Pride.
Prior to the AGM though, Fernie Pride will again have a colourful presence in the Griz Days Parade. They are so excited to celebrate Griz Days and have a tie-dyed, One Love themed float to express the parade theme of “Light Up the Night”. They would love to have you be a part of the fun and walk with Pride during the parade. Interested? Feel free to join in on Saturday, March 7 at 6pm by looking for the Fernie Pride float, grabbing a shirt or flag, and dancing your way down 2nd Avenue from 6:30pm on.
Fernie Pride exists thanks to the hard work and passion of the people and businesses of the Elk Valley. They are constantly grateful for their support but they are also reaching out for volunteers to be a part of Fernie Pride. Do you have a particular passion for events? Keen on communications? Interested in education? They would love to hear from you!
