Catch Me If You Can: Kids Running Camp
This August, Georgia Fear is hosting a running camp in Fernie with all proceeds benefiting the Emily Brydon Youth Foundation. A 16-year-old girl who resides in London, England and spends every summer and Christmas in Fernie with her family (the Majic’s), Georgia recognized that there is currently no camp on offer for kids in the Elk Valley and wanted to instil her own love of running into young children, teaching proper technique, training habits, recovery options, nutrition and above all else how to have fun.

Running August 5-8 from 9am-1pm at the FSS track, Catch Me If You Can is for kids age 8-13 and is $100 per runner. All participants receive a camp T-shirt and water bottle, with a fun run on the last day with prizes. Runners are asked to bring a packed lunch, lots of water and proper running shoes.

For more information or to register for this camp, email catchmeifyoucanfernie@gmail.com.

Two young entrepreneurs put everything on the line to live in Fernie. They spent and borrowed every penny they could, rolled the dice to fulfill their dream of operating a restaurant in the town they love, teamed up with two fun and dedicated chefs trained in French and Latin cuisine, and brought Nevados to life.

Nevados’ menu ranges from Peruvian ceviche and Mexican tacos, to Cactus Salad, Plantains and Argentinian style beef. With an “extenso” selection of delicious beverages, the menu is a full-blown Latin flavour explosion.

Having lived her for seven years, owners Kurt and Storm are excited to be working full time in the restaurant, and offering yet another great downtown culinary experience.

Nevados: Adjective – 1. Snow covered, snow capped. 2. Snowy, snow-white. Noun – Snow-capped mountain.
