Everyone loves to write. Right? Wrong! But Kate Harrison Whiteside does, and that's why writing and editing are the focal point of her business Key Advice and Services.

Kate moved from Rossland to Fernie and instantly connected with the entrepreneurial energy. Kate helps government, businesses, organizations and institutions improve their client connections through clear communication – her specialty. She draws on her journalism, adult education, and marketing backgrounds. With experience in Canada, the UK, and the EU, in print, social media, and website content projects, Kate's clients select from a varied services menu. College of the Rockies campuses and plainlanguageacademy.com offer her workshops. She consults with local company CENTURY 21 Real Mountain Living, a regional health services organization, and national firms, taking advantage of new technology to work in person and virtually.

Kate looks forward to connecting with you, and learning more about East Kootenay businesses.

Beyond 4 Walls Forest Preschool is Outdoor Connections’ newest program for children aged three to five. The organization has currently launched a Go-Fund-Me campaign to help with the purchase of a yurt. The yurt will allow the organization to expand the program to be able to reach more children. The yurt will provide shelter during inclement weather and will be also be utilized by after-school youth programs, classroom education programs and summer camps.

For the past three years, Outdoor Connections has created new programs for children and youth in the Elk Valley to get them outside and experience the benefits of the natural world. All of the programs provide the opportunity for participants to increase their physical activity, mental-health, self-esteem and resiliency. The programs foster a connection to natural spaces and development of communication and interpersonal skills.
