Nourish Through Nature

Krissi Hyland is a Registered Holistic Nutritionist and Whole Foods Chef. She created Nourish Through Nature cooking classes to empower people in their own kitchen. Her goal is to make healthy nourishing foods taste awesome and teach new skills to bring home to friends and family. Ingredients are always gluten free and can accommodate food sensitivities if informed in advance.

Cooking classes are now available through the College of the Rockies
Cooking with Whole Foods, Oils & Flavourful Fats, Superfood Smoothies & Elixirs, Superfood Meals, Raw Chocolate, Raw Treats, Snacks & Appetizers, Vegetarian Cooking, Intro to Raw Cuisine and Fermenting in Fernie – 250-423-4691.

Private and custom classes are also available, and can include custom menu, hands-on learning, nourish through nature, recipes, tasting/dinner/lunch (depending on time & theme of the class), and nutrition education. Clean-up is taken care of, so you can relax!

Stanton’s Local Cookhouse

Pasture to plate, farm and forest to fork, Stanton's Local Cookhouse new to Fernie this winter, focuses on home cooked meals using fresh, seasonal, local, wild and organic specialties whenever possible. Opening early and closing late, this restaurant located in the Red Tree Lodge is kid friendly, includes an organic smoothie and juice bar, offers a craft specialty coffee bar, homemade bread, pastries, pies and quiches; signature wild game burgers, stews and chilli; and daily tasting menu alongside tasty wine, cocktails and beer.

“We want to be a good place to eat for everyone,” says owner Mark Stanton. “We strive to offer efficient, sincere, caring, knowledgeable and friendly service. The community is very important to us.”

Stanton's local Cookhouse proudly supports local Artisans in the East Kootenays, including a General Store. “Here we feature local jam's, jellies, relishes, honey, candles and a great selection of local art work,” adds Mark.

The Urban Settler

The Urban Settler, founded in 1998, is a Canadian company specializing in furniture, flooring, and millwork crafted from vintage reclaimed and sustainably harvested Canadian woods. Owner Paul Arcoite lives in Fernie and recently opened a showroom and home interior shop at 561 Hwy #3. The Fernie location features beautiful reclaimed wood products produced by The Urban Settler, as well as high quality affordable home furnishings and décor items from other Canadian producers and distributors: Custom sofas and upholstery, throws and blankets, bedding, window coverings, vintage signs, artwork and antiques. The shop also offers interior design services.
