Big Bang is going disposable cup-free. April is Green Month! That means the folks over at Big Bang Bagels, Fernie’s official Greenest Coffee Shop of 2018* by Wildsight, is making a bold change. It’s time to scrap the wasteful paper cup! For the duration of April, disposable cups will not be an option at Big Bang Bagels. Instead, you have a few other options.
- Bring your own reusable mug (if you don’t have one you can purchase a nice one at Big Bang).
- Use one of their in-house reusable coffee cups.
- RENT-A-MUG. Just leave a deposit and you can take one of their rent-a-mugs, for an hour, for the day, or forever.
Now, you will be able to drink your coffee with the usual love and care that Big Bang provides as standard, with the added heartwarming feeling that you are helping to save our precious planet.
Kootenay Baby and Toddler Expo
Calling all babies, toddlers, parents, expecting parents, and anyone who knows an amazing parent/baby or toddler! The Kootenay Baby and Toddler Expo is a showcase of Kootenay-based businesses that offer services and goods to support everyone involved in the development and growth of Little Ones. Come learn from experts on topics like natural approaches to kids’ health, sleep support for infants, and financial planning for parents. The ever-popular baby race is back, there are hundreds of dollars of door prizes to be won, and delicious local food vendors will abound.

Fernie Fresh Food Share
Save on Foods has adopted a zero-waste initiative and with that is excited about its partnership with the Fernie Fresh Food Share and The Salvation Army. “As a food retailer, our goal is to feed people, not landfills.” Fernie Fresh Food Share now picks up from Save On Foods five days per week, from all departments, making it possible for the store to operate with a zero waste target.
Fernie Fresh Food Share is a food recovery program that takes food from local restaurants and grocery stores that can no longer be sold but still fit for human consumption. The food then gets taken to the Salvation Army food bank where it is sorted, weighed and put out for distribution. Save On would like to thank its team in the store; they have come up with some great solutions to help get them to zero waste.

Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory has been a favourite stop for locals and tourists from around the world for over 15 years. The first time that Shane and Mandy came to Fernie to see the chocolate shop as prospective buyers, they too fell in love with it but more importantly with Fernie.They drove back to Saskatchewan both knowing that Fernie was where they were supposed to call home. It was a dream come true, to raise their family in the mountains and be in business together.
It is evident as you walk through the door that Shane and Mandy are passionate about chocolate and providing the best customer service. You may even see their young children greeting and serving customers.As the new owners, they want to thank everyone in the community for the warm welcome.They look forward to another 15 years of success.

Then Shelby applies a pre-shave cream to prep the skin and using a razor-sharp blade, she’ll give you the closest shave you’ve ever had.To finish it off, another hot towel and a face massage with a soothing cream.

Thunder Meadows is very excited to introduce their new physiotherapist, Devan Tessolini MScPT.
Born and raised in Canmore, AB, Devan has mountain life in her blood. Recently, Devan and her husband decided to upgrade to the Elk Valley in pursuit of deeper snow and flowy bike trails. She brings along a physiotherapy practice that focuses on pelvic health. Her passion in this specialty has been long standing as she believes women deserve the opportunity for education, support and treatment to live their best lives. Devan is a mother herself, affirming her appreciation for pelvic health in a rural setting.
She is also certified in acupuncture, IMS, manual therapy, kinesio taping, advanced hip rehabilitation and post-natal strength conditioning.
