Sunday In the Park with Sadie!

In a small town like Fernie, our dedicated community spaces are sacred places in nature where we all get to play. Often these spaces are maintained by the City and/or by the efforts of the many dedicated volunteers. One of my favourite places to hit is the Fernie Rail Yard Dog Park. Its gorgeous off leash areas and paved walking trails are stunning. Borrow a furry friend or bring your own and have a gander. Here’s a fun poem for all ages that expresses the fun that can be had there.

Sunday In the Park with Sadie!
By Sadie Rosgen

Once upon a Sunday in the park with Sadie,
I stumbled upon a very favourable lady.
She was bright and warm and to my alarm a swarm of dogs ran ‘round her!
Her smile was huge and her hair flowed long,
and that’s when I heard the humming of her song.
Her pitch was high with much vibrato,
with some notes long and some staccato.
The pack knew the track and could not hold back and they all started dancing! Sadie felt shy for she didn’t know the moves, she clung close but still felt the groove. Before long her tail was wagging and her paws were flagging down the other dogs! A dog park dance party was underway, each dog was rocking out, even the strays! Sadie smiled her special smile as we walked home together,
for we would remember our dog park dance party for ever and ever.
