Summer Weekly Highlights

As Fernie evolves and grows, so do the options when it comes to events and entertainment. With weekly, monthly and annual events filling the calendar, planning your summer can be challenging! For many of us, some of these events have become nostalgic and part of what makes our summers so special. This year we are focusing on the weekly events we are most looking forward to this summer season. We hope to see you there!

The Kodiak Lounge is a popular place to go on Monday evenings as it’s Open Mic Night! From the exceptional musicians and singers to the engaged crowd and cold drinks, it’s definitely become a weekly staple year-round.

Tuesdays at the Community EcoGarden, kids ages 0-6 and their caregivers can attend this free program that involves a lot of free play, watering plants, playing in sand and dirt, some organized activities, book reading and more from 9:30-11:30am.

Starting May 28 and running until August 20, the Fernie Trails Alliance is hosting the very popular Toonie Race Series! The series has some true xc and dh, as well as some weeks will also have a shorter course for youth.

This has to be the cutest thing you’ll ever witness. Littles on their run bikes or pedal bikes complete as many laps of the course as possible in half an hour. Each lap they put their name into a jar to win prizes! Held on Wednesdays, the series tours Fernie’s best parks and runs from May 22 to Sept 4.

Every Wednesday in July and August, Station Square adjacent to the Fernie Arts Station comes to life with life music, beer gardens, crafts for kids and food trucks. Definitely try to plan your trip here around a Wednesday!

Thursdays in Fernie are for running! Stag Leap Running hosts a weekly Run Club that caters to all levels. Runners can get into groups for those wanting something a bit longer, those wanting more of a “Leisure Athlete Pace” and if enough people, a middle-ground group.

The Mountain Market is a Fernie staple. It is when the community comes together, supports local makers and growers, children play, adults shop and catch up, the sun shines, and life slows down for a little while. Rotary Park on Sundays from 10am-2pm.

There are many other additional events taking place regularly including Thursday Night Work Parties with the Fernie Trails Alliance, Bramasole hosts Live Music in the Garden every Sunday afternoon and Live Beats in the Garden every Wednesday night, tennis and pickleball evenings at Max Turk and James White Park, and so much more.
