Shred Kelly Releases New Album

On June 19, 2020 Fernie's own Shred Kelly released its new album Like A Rising Sun in a unique and COVID-friendly way. Utilizing the Fernie Heritage Library's Book Bike and filling it with copies of their album, they cruised the streets of Fernie, played songs from the album, and gave out free copies to the public!

"We have been working on this record for over two years, and we are so excited to finally share it with everyone and hope it brings some comfort and joy during these times. Fernie has always been huge supporters of our band and we are so grateful for the support we have received from our community over these past 11 years," band member Sage McBride tells us.

"The music industry has been especially hard hit during COVID-19, live performance makes up 90% of our revenue, and there’s no idea of when that might fully resume. So we’re reaching out to see if we could ask for your support in a small way to help the release of our new record to be as impactful as possible. Streaming, saving, and sharing our music is the best way you can support without spending any money! If you have the means, we also have new merchandise for sale through our website."

Shred Kelly is also making an Isolation Memory Video to remember our town's experience in isolation over the past few months. A video photo journal or a time capsule from COVID-19 stay at home orders, a time in history that will never be forgotten.

"We are hoping that you can send us any videos that you took during this time from your homes or at work, or wherever you happened to be that you can send our way. Making sour dough bread, dance parties in your living room, zooming, social distanced lineups, visiting through windows, working from home, homeschooling, facetiming, playing music, singing karaoke, gardening, wine drinking, distanced visits, online exercising, mask wearing, mask making, hand washing, grocery washing - whatever it is you documented that captured this moment in time. If you only have pictures, send one too!"

Help them spread the word and email your images and videos to as soon as possible - they don’t have to be long, just a short clip is perfect!

Congratulations, Shred Kelly and thank you for always putting community first.
